Celebrate a decade of honorable service with the Armed Forces Reserve Medal, a distinguished recognition for those who have dedicated 10 years in the Reserve. Perfect for honoring commitment and excellence in service.
The Armed Forces Reserve Medal (AFRM) is a distinguished award recognizing the dedication and commitment of service members in the Reserve Components of the United States Armed Forces. This medal honors those who have completed a significant tenure of honorable service, showcasing their loyalty and perseverance.
To be eligible for the AFRM, service members must complete a total of 10 years of honorable satisfactory service within a 12-year period. This service must be in a Reserve Component and cannot include time served in a Regular component of the Armed Forces. However, any interruption due to service in a Regular component, including Naval Academy Midshipman service, does not constitute a break in the 12-year period. Service in the Retired Reserve or on the Inactive Status List does not count toward eligibility. Each year of service must include at least 50 retirement points, a requirement in place since June 30, 1949.
The AFRM is a testament to the enduring commitment of those who serve in the Reserve Components, succeeding the Naval Reserve Medal and the Marine Corps Reserve Ribbon, which were discontinued in 1958 and 1965, respectively. This medal is a symbol of honor and dedication, proudly worn by those who have met its rigorous standards.
Note: This medal is specifically for members of the Reserve Components and is not awarded for service in the Regular components of the Armed Forces.
