The snowshoes are constructed of a lightweight but highly durable magnesium frame, and the frame joints are welded for added strength. The webbing of the shoes consists of twisted steel aircraft cable that has been coated in nylon for long term reliability. One inch nylon bindings with quick release metal buckles adjust to work with most styles of boots, and can be quickly removed when needed. The underside has welded metal cleats for better traction on icy terrain. In the case of an emergency, shavings from the frame can be used to start a fire.
