US NAVY SPECIALIST MARK – BOILER TECHNICIAN patch.

The US Navy Boiler Technician (BT) is responsible for operating and performing maintenance on marine boilers, pumps, and other fire room machinery. The role includes performing tests on boiler water, fuel, and lubricating oils, operating and performing preventive maintenance on boilers and boiler auxiliary equipment, and operating distilling plants. The BT also tests and calibrates gauges, exercises environmental control procedures, and prepares environment pollution reports. Additionally, the BT supervises oil spill containment and collecting, prepares environment pollution reports, conducts on-the-job training, monitors maintenance and handling of logs, records, accounts, and reports, and prepares quarterly maintenance schedules.
