M1947 USMC US Army Korean War Parka Coat Hooded Jacket with alpaca liner Medium
US Korean War Era Winter field parka with dark brown alpaca Liner (removable) M1947. This is more rare USMC / USN issued M1947 with out the tunnel for a belt. Parka is sized as a medium and should fit like one as well over clothing.
The M-47 US Army Parka came into fruition after the end of World War II in 1945 and was first patented in 1947 thus giving it the name M-47. Production continued until the mid 1950s before it was replaced with the more modern and better known parkas such as the M51 and the M65. The M-47 takes details from the Mountain Parkas that came before it and is the direct thread that connects the mountain parkas to more modern day parkas we know and love today.
This particular model of the M-47 Parka was used by USMC throughout the Korean War. The parka features an exposed button storm-flap with a heavy duty Talon brass front zipper, belt-buckle waist fastening and upper chest hand warmer pockets along with front lower large storage pockets. Built with an elongated silhouette. This one is fitted with the original popper removable wool liner.
